Ditch The 9 To 5: Find The Time To Build Your Business

Dear Sages,

I have an idea for business that I think could be HUGE. Problem is I never find time to work on it.

I have a full time job. I have one high schooler still at home. I have laundry and cooking and cleaning. Besides the obvious: “If it’s important to me, I’ll find the time”, do you have any advice?

Sincerely, Stifled Entrepreneur

Dear Stifled,

Well, you’re right…almost. Let’s slightly tweak your mindset. Instead of “finding” the time, MAKE the time. What the eff does that mean? Thank you for asking.

Get Up Earlier

Don’t start whining about how tired you are. Trust me, WE KNOW. But here’s the secret to being able to get up early… get that tushy to bed early. That doesn’t mean get in bed and watch TV for 2 hours. It means lights out. Everyone has different sleep requirements. These Sages are unapologetically 8 hours a night kind of girls.

Plan Tomorrow Today

This means getting totally prepped for tomorrow the night before. Your schedule should be written out and set in stone. Most importantly, write down 1-2 HIGH PRIORITY tasks that you will accomplish the next day that will get you closer to launching your business.

Identify Time Sucks

Spend a little too much time on your phone? Obviously you’re not alone in this. We block out hours a day where we pay attention to MiddleSages and our phones take a break in another room.

So, to recap:
  • Prep tomorrow, today: full schedule with 1-2 high priority goals
  • Go to bed early so that you can wake up early
  • Put your phone in time-out

We know it’s tough, but remember:

ditch the 9 to 5

Give it 30 days and let us know about the incredible progress you’re making on your business idea!

xo, Your Sages
